How to install Iriun on Mac

Set up Iriun on macOS, including the camera permissions step that trips most people up.

Setup time: ~3 minutes · Difficulty: Beginner

Installing Iriun on a Mac is much like Windows, with one extra step: macOS asks you to grant camera permission before apps can use the feed. Here's how to do it cleanly.

  1. Download the macOS client from the official Iriun source and open the downloaded file.
  2. Install the app by dragging it into Applications, then launch it.
  3. Grant permissions. When prompted, allow camera (and microphone, if you want phone audio) access. You can confirm this later under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
  4. Install the phone app from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Connect and select. Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network (or use USB), then choose "Iriun Webcam" as the camera in your video app.
Common snag: If your Mac shows a black screen, it's almost always a permissions issue. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and make sure both Iriun and your video app are enabled, then restart the video app.

The minimum supported macOS version can change between releases — confirm the current requirement on the download section before installing.
